You must be a registered company on company house
Will there be any further criteria?
At the moment yes there will be however the first two criteria’s are the important steps to being a bespoke couture brand.
The BCA is a British association that will trademark, protect and promote Bespoke Couture and its part in British culture.
In addition, we aim to allow bespoke couture fashion brands to become members of the association. Our initial purpose is to stop the term bespoke couture from being used willingly/devalued.
Currently, the Fédérationde la Haute Coutureet de la Mode is a French governing body that protects (amongst other duties) Haute Couture for which is a French term for high dressmaking.
We as an British association feel there is a need for a British term. The BCA will be for ladies wear only, this includes evening, daywear & bridal.
We hope to establish a community of designers (couturist) that not only creates a unique British luxury product, but one that also forms the training base for young craftsmen and women who will go on to become tailors/seamstresess or designers themselves.
The Bespoke Couture label
The bespoke couture label is a label that will be used to identify a genuine bespoke couture garment. This is crucial in protecting the term and the member fashion brand from illegality.
All fashion brands will be required to include the label in their garment, this also reaffirms the brands membership swell as adhering to the codes of the association for Bespoke Couture.
